Book Review: The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 25th Anniversary Edition, part 2

The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 25th Anniversary Edition edited by Stephen Jones, part 2

Guinea Pig Girl
A creeper gets off on the stuff being enacted in a snuff film and then the star pays him a visit. This was repulsive on pretty much every level.

Best Lines:
“Please don’t come back.”
But she did.

Miss Baltimore Crabs Anno Dracula 1990
By Kim Newman. This is a vampire AU take on ‘Homicide: Life on the Street’ in which a mondo trasho adventure takes place amid the urban decay. This was very good.

Best Line:
“Coming home to find a doll’s house replica of the Tri-State Hooker Hacker’s latest killing room on the kitchen table.”

By Stephen Volk. This is a novella centring on Peter Cushing, recently made a widower, who is asked for help by a young boy who thinks he is Van Helsing. The boy has a harrowing tale and Cushing must face down unfathomable real evil. How can a worn out actor face down the stark power of an ordinary man with incompressible darkness? This was good.
