Jane drives away possible allies by being strident about her dad’s new family and his lack of public heart-rending grief. Jane is exasperating. Everyone shows off their actorly conceits except Rob. Jane is calculating and pretends to take her medication then runs off to investigate unpleasantness involving Andrew’s ex-wife.
Jane sees conspiracy and suspicion everywhere playing the role of a neurotic adventuress who is sure the truth is almost in reach. This prompts Rob to leave her. Emma visits her mother and learns something that causes the foundations of her life to shift. Emma goes on a rant after the extremely upsetting revelation. So far this has been okay, but the revelation that changes everything makes the ending unmitigated tosh. And Jane gets to act like she did no wrong.
“Did he hurt someone?”
“She belongs in the hospital, not a police cell.”
“Nothing ever happened to him.”
“I can’t trust her with you anymore.”
“I was just so scared of him. I still am.”
Right Wing Militia types called Red Hawks plan anti-Atrian violence. Emery rants about attempts to reconcile humans and Atrians and the Atrians right to attend human self-imposed social conventions. She’s now a notorious numb-mouth.
It is a delicate time for the Atrians in their interment camp as Roman’s uncle makes a power play and the Atrian elders are ayahuasca-drinking fractious pot-heads. Arrival Day really didn't change the world as there are no new fashions in 2024. The Atrians plan violence and disturbance. This ep was onerous as the Atrians look to a bygone era and spew hyperbole and plan to arise. The cast is full of mocktresses, the plot is not robust and the characters are all pedantry artifice. I don’t care about them, their calumnies or whatever lethal catastrophes they face. This show is like hair mascara, so five minutes ago.
Atrians aren’t misinterpreted; some of them remove their skin tags to lie in wait for a coming war. Emery decides to bat her eyelids at a nice human boy instead of Roman. The formerly sick girl who Roman cured of cancer may be becoming an Atrian. Roman’s uncle is not to be trusted. Roman is paranoid. And the nice human boy has a secret, the revelation about the nice human boy made me decide to give this show another chance. He is more interesting than the alien Rambos or Emery being called a race traitor bitch.
“Now Eric’s dad does a lot of drinking his breakfast.”
“Oh right. You guys do that. Pray.”
“I can be dark and mysterious.”
