Movie Review: The Craft

The Craft (1996)
Prepare to exorcise your rites.

Four outcast teenage girls: Sarah (Robin Tunney of ‘Prison Break’), Nancy (Fairuza Balk of ‘Return To Oz’), Bonnie (Neve Campbell) and Rochelle (Rachel True) take up witchcraft to deal with the school bullies Chris (Skeet Ulrich of ‘Jericho’) and Laura (Christine Taylor).

There is fun and teen angst from girls with terrible attitudes who look like zombie corpses. The school bullies soon regret crossing them but Nancy and Sarah develop skewed perspectives and fight an egocentric magic duel over who is the Queen Bee witch. Cue dated CGI and a bleak ending. This had creepy mirrors, Sarah’s friends inexplicably turning on her, Balk screaming all her lines, too much overacting, 90s fashion and was okay.

Best Lines:
“So if you ever wanna just hang out and chant...”

“Why aren’t you dead?”

“You don’t even exist to me!”

“The bitches of Eastwick.”

“It isn’t real.”
“Then why are you still bleeding?”
