Book Review: Witches: Wicked, Wild & Wonderful edited by Paula Guran, part 2

Poor Little Saturday
A boy encounters a witch in this boring tale.

The Only Way To Fly
An old widowed witch who gave up her magic to marry a mortal has regrets. This was not good.

Skin Deep
A witch comes to some realizations in this dull tale.

The Robbery
An unlikely witch makes a thief pay. This was okay.

Marlboros and Magic
An old bat gets herself evicted from an old folk’s home. This was bad.

Magic Carpets
An unhappy girl is unhappy some more. This was terrible.

The Ground Whereon She Stands
This is a bizarre and incoherent tale of eco-witchery or something.

A bad witch stands up against an office bully and pays a very steep price. This was good.

Best Lines:
“Satisfaction was for the forces of Light in their static heaven.”

“Non serviam.”

“Sometimes they scream.”

April In Paris
Witches in Paris, yawn.

The Goosle
A different take on ‘Hansel and Gretel’ that really wants to be dark, dark, dark.

Best Lines:
“Looked at me in a very thoughtful way that I did not much like.”

“A plague-ruin.”

A depressing miserable tale.
