Movie Review: Notes On A Scandal

Notes On A Scandal (2006)
Based on the book by professional whiner Zoe Heller. Bulldog’s arse face Barbara (Judi Dench) is a teacher at a decaying school. Her interest is perked by newly arrived teacher Sheba (Cate Blanchett). The deranged Barbara is determined to befriend the awful Sheba who lives a nice middle class existence with her older tosser husband Richard (Bill Nighy) and two troubled kids. When Barbara learns Sheba is having an affair with a callow student, she decides to stir the pot. Scandal erupts and Barbara’s past comes out. This was dull but worthy as Sheba’s craven sexual advances nearly ruin everything and Barbara decides to find another new 'friend'.

Best Lines:
“Here come the local pubescent proles. The future plumbers and shop assistants and doubtless the odd terrorist too. In the old days we confiscated cigarettes and wank mags. Now its knives and crack cocaine. And they call it progress.”

“Reform through nurture.”

“The tweedy tramp coat is an abhorrence.”

“Pig in knickers.”

“Odious boy.”

“Lasagne tends to disagree with my bowels.”

“You’re his teacher!”
“And you were mine!”

“I didn’t so I haven’t.”

“Where is she?”
“In her lair.”

“Your boyfriend is younger than mine.”
