Henry VIII has tired of Anne Boleyn’s pungent charisma so the unerringly sinister Thomas Cromwell takes care of the matter in this sequel to the over rated ‘Wolf Hall’. This takes place over a short period of time as Cromwell enjoys the task of riding King Henry of his unwanted second wife and providing him with his third. It is a brutal bloody business.
This is very good, a vision of a court where plotting is rife and no one can trust each other. It is an enthralling depiction of Cromwell at the height of his powers, the fall of Anne Boleyn and the rise of the remarkably cold and ambitious Jane Seymour.
