Cleared out two tapes, one from 2003 and one from 1999. I’ll start these adventures in VHS with the 2003 tape. It began with a ‘Hercules: The Legendary Journeys’ ep ‘Les Contemptibles’ which is a clip show whose framing story takes place in France of 1789. This was dull with an over reliance on comedy wigs and accents.
Then came a ‘Cleopatra 2525’ ep ‘Truth Be Told’. I used to enjoy this show. But seriously the big bad ran around dressed as a clown. Bored. Then came a season 7 ‘Buffy The Vampire’ ep ‘Lies My Parents Told Me’ in which Robin Wood wants justice for his dead mother. He does not get it due to Buffy’s worship of Spike who she thinks is super cool. This was abominable. Everyone sits around Buffy’s house, Giles annoys and Spike never rose above his raising. Finally came a season 4 ‘Angel’ ep ‘Players’ in which Cordelia is knocked up and Connor is offensively stupid. Gwen shows up to annoy and this was dull.
The 1999 tape began with a ‘Vengeance Unlimited’ ep ‘Dishonorable Discharge’ which saw our vigilante heroes bring down a perv. This was somewhat tasteless. Then came a season 3 ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ ep ‘Revelations’ in which Faith’s ‘watcher’ shows up. Xander and Faith try to kill Angel, Giles annoys and there is mention of ‘The Twilight Compendium’. Poor Faith is ignored.
Then came another season 3 ‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ ep ‘Lover’s Walk’ in which Spike returns to Sunnydale as the gang obsess over their SATs. WTF was TPTB’s obsession with Spike? Xander has no guilt over his emotional adultery with Willow but she does. Then their emotional affair is exposed. This was okay.
Best Lines:

“Apart from everything ever?”
“There will no bottle in face and there will be on having of any kind with me.”
“I’m not a real witch you know.”
Finally there was a ‘Hercules: The Legendary Journeys’ ep ‘The Lost City’ in which Iolaus and an annoying woman fall into an underground city and find a cult. Iolaus is stripped half naked for some sweaty brainwashing by the Charles Manson like cult leader. This is a Hercules free ep. This was okay.
