Book Review: Danse Macabre

Danse Macabre by Stephen King

This is a collection of autobiography and analysis of horror movies, books, TV and radio that covers 1950 to 1980. Granted this is dated. King rants against banal TV, about 1970’s politics and against bad 1970’s movies I’ve never heard of – ‘Prophecy’? Also the pop culture references are completely obscure – who or what are the Gas House Kids?

Still this is an enjoyable read. However one should note that when he lists favoured horror movies and books – not one female director is mentioned and there are very few female authors. This is enjoyable, just dated.
