"The man who was just released from the mental institution, he wants to give
you a drug overdose, then stick a metal rod into your head and put you naked
into a rusty tank of water."
"Bootlegging smack in the basement is just the picture of normalcy."
From the guy who gave us 'Alias' and 'Lost' comes this bizarre show. It was
good, not as gripping as 'Lost' but I'll keep watching. Let us hope TPTB
don't axe it.
Olivia, a blonde FBI agent who looks like Gwyneth Paltrow, gets involved in
the case of a plane full of people who've been turned into goo. After the
CDC burn the plane, Olivia and her partner Scott investigate. Scott is
infected with something nasty as a result. So Olivia has to get Dr Walter
Bishop out of the loony bin, where he has spent the last 17 years. However
she needs the help of Walter's estranged son Peter (Joshua Jackson - you may
remember him from such things as 'The Skulls', 'Scream 2', 'Urban Legend'
and 'Dawson's Creek') to do that.
So Olivia, the deranged Walter and the sarcastic genius con artist Peter
work to save Scott. The process leads to bizarre experiments and a
mysterious link to the Massive Dynamic corporation. Soon Olivia meets a
woman with a robot arm, learns of bizarre events called the Pattern and
realises that saving Scott was a bad idea. Scott is a bad, bad, bad man.
This was good and intriguing. It is somewhat derivative of 'The X Files'
though. Still it invites you to keep watching. The scenes of the gross gooey plane was nasty. The giant floating location titles were good. I liked the opening credits. 17 years and nobody cleaned out Walter's lab? Anyone else think Walter experimented on Peter? Or that Peter is one of his experiments? Where is Peter's mother anyway? WTF is the Pattern? What sort of name is Massive Dynamic? Why was the baddie put in a hospital room next to Scott's?
