Batman: Fortress Issue 1 Review
This was done with no knowing irony. There is no logical terrifying conclusion. Batman is uncompassionate, forever whining about his man pain and dead parents. There is no narrative arch. This was not an absurdist delight. There is no gradual corruption in town. This wants to be oppressively bleak. This was even more less nuanced than usual. This was not emotionally convincing or dramatically thrilling or emotionally believable. The world is strangely changed when aliens show up. Maybe it is aliens? This is unremittingly grim. The consequences will be severe, maybe? Bruce had the fervour filled and imbecilic idea to dress as a bat instead of using his vast fortune to help the poors. This was slightly disappointing. Can Bruce stop an alien invasion of Earth all by himself? Cos his VAST network of allies aren't seen or mentioned.
Alfred is alive. There is a blackout and yet more focus on Martha Wayne's pearls. Communications are out cue calamitious civil unrest. The batcave has satellites and a reactor. Again, why didn't Bruce use his money for something more than a rich man's toys? Aren't the Justice League dead? Clark is missing. Bruce looks ugly. There has been a breakout at Arkham again. Where's the batfam? Why doesn't he just kill The Joker alread?
