The Nun's Story (1959)
Audrey Hepburn is a nun. This was so Oscar baity with ignored colonalism. This was not deftly handled apart from the cold ending when Hepburn leaves the convent forever.
Aquaman (2018) Rewatch
Atlantis has theocratic leadership, Black Manta lurks and Aquaman frequently has no shirt. He also has no secret identity. There is no frisson of excitment and expectation. Amber Heard and her bad wig can't act. This was so long and so shiny. The consequences will be dire if Aquaman's jackass brother is allowed to do bad things. Aquaman is subject to ridicule and mockery by his half brother.
There is an atmosphere of uncertainty and obvious CGI. There are no prolonged periods of reflection just fights and decisions made in reckless haste. This was okay.
“Fish boy from the tv.”
“I'm the bastard son of the Queen your people executed.”
“Ruled over all that was.”
“Ocean of sand.”
“You've been misguided.”
“My father was a lighthouse keeper, my mother was a Queen. They were never meant to meet.”
