Book Review: Stealing Snow

Stealing Snow by Danielle Paige
Snow, a mental patient is opinionated and defiant and obsesses over a violent fellow inmate, then she learns she is a princess with magic powers. She ends up in a fantasy world and one isn’t emotionally invested in this. Snow seeks out the truth but nobody will tell her anything. A harem of men follows her around. This starts out well but then becomes caustic and indefensibly stupid. This annoys and bores on an unrelenting basis.

Best Lines:
“The lamps were nailed down to the floor and tea was served lukewarm in paper cups for safety.”

“The things I didn’t and couldn’t have.”

“The nailed-down coffee table.”

Movie Reviews: Mean Girls + 3 others

Mean Girls (2004)
Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Lacey Chabert, Neil Flynn, Amanda Sefried, Diego Klattenhoff and Lizzy Caplan star in this tale of mean girls and girls who have a weakness for cretinous men and making incautious choices. It starts out well but ‘Superstar’ starring Molly Shannon was almost better than this over-hyped film. This is a tale of high school low-level moral degradation, an art freak having long-brewed disapproval, teen girl sexual paranoia and moments of clarity.

People are convinced they are intellectually and morally right. This has no core of truth and it is not poignant or nuanced. The less flattering parts of teen girls personalities are shown off. There are no compelling reasons to watch this. Nobody has realistic responses and this is laden with scorn.

There is no emotional pivot and nothing the teens do is a recipe for making friends. There is always an enemy and there are opposing narratives and people need constant affirmation and acclimation, just don’t except a reciprocal arrangement. Teens are unable emotionally to deliver any sort of sympathy. There are profound levels of denial and indefensible acts. People have an honest belief in their dysfunctional mediocrity. These teens sour presence is extremely mediocre.

This is a tale of covert behaviours, no meaningful apologies or social obligation. This was woefully inept and gloriously excessive. Unsupportive friends have no breadth or depth. There are short skirts, excessive make up and big hair. There is no emotional fallout. Everyone is trash and nobody has a commitment to being respectable.

This was before Lohan’s downfall and shows she was pretty and had charisma, now Emma Stone has the career Lohan threw away.

Best Lines:
“And on the third day, God created the Remington Bolt Action rifle so that man could fight the dinosaurs and the homosexuals.”

“Scum sucking road whore!”

“The slut rule.”

“It burned down in 1987.”

“You smell like a baby prostitute.”

“Army of skanks.”

“Boo, you whore!”

“Is butter a carb?”

The Girl Next Door (2004)

Kingpin (1996)

Weekend At Bernie’s (1989)

Gotham 3x01 + Shades Of Blue 2x04 Reviewed

Better To Reign In Hell
Valerie Vale and Fish prance. Gordon is a bounty hunter and the show still hasn’t found the art of coherent story telling. There are plausibility concerns and an overdone sense of portent. Fox works for the GCPD now?!? Indian Hills escapees run around. The wildly shifty Penguin has impudence. There is bad acting. Tabitha and Barbara run a club, the lower element Butch bumbles, Gordon and his Lutheran self-denial assumes a secondary role in his own life.

Cat-teen and Poison Ivy walk and talk. Bruce and Alfred have no steely resolve or core of truth. This was all dysfunctional mediocrity and there are no emotional anchors. This show is in a lamentable state. Riddler bores to ongoing effect. No wonder this show is wildly derided. Fish walks around dressed like a cenobite. She annoys. Nothing is cogent. Bruce rants to the morally corrupt Wayne board about the values they don’t fulfil anymore, they should tell him to go watch cartoons. Why is anyone listening to Bruce and Alfred’s ranting? There are traumatic incidents and people feel like getting messed up.

Best Lines:
“Fascistic meat-head culture.”

“I take issue with the word threat.”

Daddy’s Girl
People never relent on exposing others to drugs, chaos, domestic issues and mayhem. Teens do drugs and OD. Stahl is crazy. Woz rages. Christina is stupid. Woz won't listen. Julia is tied to the mob. Tess and Harlee have issues. This bored.

Best Lines:
Buckets of stupid.”

“Your roof, your responsibility.”

“Is there even a dead partner?”

“Twisted vengeance quest.”

"Took a bat to his head."

"Don't made me choose."
