'Catching Fire' trailer!!!

‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’ trailer
The odds are never in our favour. Philip Seymour Hoffman. Silly outfits, the victory tour, uprisings, Gale bores, no District 13 and not one clip of the Quarter Quell. This looks interesting.

Best Lines:
“I agree she should die. But in the right way. At the right time.”

Review of ‘Iron Man 2’ forthcoming.

‘Teen Mom 2’ Quote:
“Weed is not a narcotic.”

‘The Simpsons’ Quote:
“You know when your dog’s having a bad dream? That’s who I pray to.”

Book Reviews: Jago + More Holmes For The Holidays, part 1

Jago by Kim Newman
This is a reprint of a book that originally came out in 1991 and quite frankly wasn’t worth it. It is a dreadful tale of a small town torn apart by a cult, monsters, psychics and endless sexual violence. It’s too long with too many boring characters and too much sleaze. This reprint also contains three short stories: ‘Ratting’ (dire), ‘Great Western’ (okay) and ‘The Man on The Clapham Omnibus’ (okay).

Best Lines:
“The only obligation your forefathers felt was to sweat the surfs into early graves and beget illegitimate cretins on terrorised girls.”

“Even this far south of Hampstead the Black Swine ruled the tunnels.”

More Holmes For The Holidays edited by Martin H. Greenberg, Jon L. Lellenberg, and Carol-Lynn Waugh, part 1

A seasonal collection from 2001.

The Christmas Gift
A Stradivarius is ransomed in this okay story by Anne Perry,

Best Line:
“What do you think you are doing making a noise like that and disturbing decent folk? Can’t you ring the doorbell, like everyone else?”

The Four Wise Men
Dark deeds are afoot at a Nativity play. This was good.

Best Line:
“Displaying a hitherto unrevealed acquaintance with the New Testament.”

Eleemosynary, My Dear Watson
Holmes and Watson investigate a jewel theft. This was mediocre.

The Adventure of the Greatest Gift
A silly tale of a supposed assassination attempt.

The Case of the Rajah’s Emerald
This silly tale mashes together a case of identity theft and a follow up to the events of ‘A Christmas Carol’.

The Christmas Conspiracy
A ridiculous tale of how the butler really did do it.

The Music of Christmas
Who robbed the Christmas money? This was silly.

The Adventure of the Christmas Bear
Oscar Wilde asks Holmes for help in this ludicrous tale.

Best Line:
“You limey poof!”

The Adventure of the Naturalist’s Stock Pin
Charles Darwin is in peril from a nutter. This was rubbish.
