A young couple go on the run after the boy kills his girlfriend's father. The girl is so dumb she fails to notice either that or the fact her boyfriend is an abusive tool. Annie pulls faces and her co-workers are bullying jerks. While not as awful as some other eps this was just utterly dull instead.
The one for all and all for one quartet are together again to defeat Milady. But they take their sweet time about it in this dull sequel. Constance is abducted and throttled, Rochford plots, Milady thrusts her chest at people, D'Artagnan is bony, Athos broods and the other two do nothing. This was just so boring.
'The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror 21' is a pile of poo.
I am reading 'The Green Hornet Casefiles'.
Finally there will be a new 'Afterblight Chronicles' novel 'Blood Ocean' next year. But after the horrible horrible 'Arrowland' and 'Children's Crusade', I'm not too hopeful.
Professor Moriarty: The Hound of the D'Urbervilles by Kim Newman
The dark doppelgangers of Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson are the vile Professor Moriarty and his sidekick Colonel Moran. This book (presented as a found document written by Moran) is a blackly comic tale of their ten year partnership running London's crime. The duo run into Irene Adler, carry out an elaborate revenge on a rival of Moriarty, fight a hound from hell, steal every cursed jewel known to man and take a final trip to a waterfall.
This is very enjyable. Moriarty and Moran are vile disgusting people but it is entertaining to read this inversion of the Holmes canon and it ends on an interesting ambiguous note.
It's Gonna Kill Me, But I'll Do It
Bridget continues to lie and pretend to be Shiv (terrible, terrible nickname). It's the twins birthday and something bad happened on Siobhan's last birthday. Bridget recalls how as kids she and her sister bonded over a necklace only for Siobhan to reject the necklace and all it stood for after their mysterious rift.
Victor creeps me out. Henry annoys. He and Gemma's kids continue to be neglected. Bridget did something unforgivable - does it have to do with the mysterious Sean? It is hinted Siobhan married Andrew as part of some long con gold-digging plot. Siobhan continues her antics in Paris.
Andrew hires a personal chef to cook meat for his vegetarian wife. Victor breaks and enters. Gemma learns something. Siobhan's plotting is still not explained. This was good, I like how this is going.
