Primeval Series 4 Ep 6 Review

Connor is dumb, people are stupid and TPTB assume we care about the whole Matt/Gideon thing. Ethan may not be who everyone thinks he is, no-one cares. Jenny Lewis aka Claudia Brown shows up when the team crash her wedding. It seems Jenny has got over Cutter's murder and is marrying a man utterly unlike him in every way.

Prehistoric dogs run around, the hotel hosting Jenny's wedding is awful, Matt talks, Emily tags along for no reason at all and Jenny's dress sense has not improved. We get big exposition dumps from Matt, yawn. Becker's boring, TPTB have ruined his character and Lester's to big up Matt. This was dull, boring and bog standard.

Where and when are Gideon and Matt from? Why does Matt have a job? Why is Matt so obsessed with Emily?

Book Reviews: Green Hornet Volume One +The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks

Green Hornet Volume One: Sins of The Father scripts by Kevin Smith

Is this graphic novel meant to be a sequel to the tv show or what? Anyway Britt Reid and Kato retire from vigilante life as Britt wants to live in peace with his wife and son. Twenty years later Britt Reid Jr is a snotty little punk who disrespects his daddy and has no direction in life.

Britt Reid Sr can't see that one of his former allies has gone to the bad. This leads to him being murdered. Britt Jr wails. Kato and his daughter Mulan show up to sort Britt Jr out. For some reason Britt Sr kept his and Kato's costumes and gear in a quasi museum in his basement. Britt Jr whines and is dumb.

Soon enough a new Kato and Hornet team take to the streets. This was good,  very funny and enjoyable once you overlook some nasty sexist 'jokes'.

Best Lines:
"You owe me nothing Britt. Except your friendship and my own jet."

"The crooks were always scared by the hat."
"Yeah scared of your frightening lack of fashion sense."

"Will you still wear the mask to bed sometimes."

"I always imagined the guy to be a kinda giant, satanic wasp or something."

"I've never been in so much friggin' pain in my life."

"Only Kato drives the Black Beauty."

"Little Reid wants to play dress up in his father's clothes."

The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
Frankie is a quiet, unnoticed girl at her expensive, elite boarding school. Her family call her 'Bunny Rabbit' and everyone is affectionately dismissive of her.

But when a rich, popular boy at school notices her, this makes others notice her. Frankie is happy, at first. She soon begins to wonder why she's being lied to and fume at the imbalance of power in her relationship.

She also gets angry about other things: an all male secret society and the atmosphere at her school. So she takes action. This is a very good tale about self awakening and angry girl antics.

The Green Hornet (2011) Review

I like the 1960's TV show and I liked this take on The Green Hornet. Brit Reid (Seth Rogen) is a loud, crude, selfish, stupid, rich idiot of a man-child. When his unloved dad dies, Britt inherits the family newspaper and his dad's mechanic Kato (Jay Chou).

Britt and Kato who both seem to be functioning sociopaths get drunk and decide to indulge in property damage and super-heroing. For the thrills you understand not for any moral purpose. Also they're into each other but don't actually admit it, but the subtext isn't sub it's text.

But Britt being Britt nearly messes it all up by being a loud moron. This leads to a brawl where he and Kato smack each other around instead of you know doing something else that involves rolling around on top of each other.

Luckily they reconcile in time to have a huge showdown with the baddies and blow more stuff up because they are the good guys pretending to be bad guys or are they. This was a funny, camp romp.

Best Lines:
" Let's not blow this thing out of proportio."
"I will blow this guy in any proportion I want."

"I think we're in the hood Kato."

"You said my outfit was pimp."

"Girls are a drag Kato, I'm so glad we have each other."

"I kicked that guy in the face like three times remember?"
