CSI Season 7 Ep 9 Review

Living Legend

A tacky gold Cadillac containing the remains of legendary 1970’s Las Vegas crime boss is found. Meanwhile a bizarre series of murders takes place and somehow nobody notices they are all being committed by the same man wearing sub par make up. What ties the cases together?

It all ties back to the 1970’s when Catherine was a 16 year old skank hit on by Mickey Dunn and four punks thought up a plan to get rich quick. This was good and has Roger Daltrey camping it up.

Nobody noticed that the names of killers in horror movies were being used as alias’? Mickey Dunn drove a gold Cadillac with a gun hood ornament and a licence plate that said ‘Chainsaw’ and he couldn’t be arrested for violating taste alone? Whatever became of Louise Lombard? Where did Dunn get the photos? Why would a mob boss pose for a photo with 4 nobodies?  When did the killer ‘master’ his make up skills? Why does Catherine wear such tacky clothing to work? Why wasn't the car found for 30 years? Who knew a man could be shot, dumped into a cold filthy lake, get out of the submerged car with the gun he was shot with and shoot someone with said waterlogged gun, steal their clothes and violate their corpse, then hop on their motorcycle and drive away without any trouble from blood loss, infection, pain or someone wondering why a Nevada cop is riding into Mexico?

Best Lines:
“Homicide related road pizza.”

“Monster changes his name, his face, passes for human.”

“Somewhere in hell, Mickey Dunn and his old pal Jimmy Hoffa are laughing their asses off.”

Sons of Anarchy Season 2 Ep 4 Review

Eureka

After the Sons drive around Charming at about 2MPH, they head out of town and straight into trouble. Tig ends up in hospital after a crash and is dragged off by bounty hunters. Back in 2001 Tig did something in a livestock truck and that’s just nasty. Clay and Jax have issues. Clay needs medication injected into his hands to keep riding and Jax is an aggressive, violent jerk. This was good. But what is Gemma’s past and will she go through with her plan to shoot Zobell’s sidekick?

Best Line:
Bounty hunters will pay admins to call in names of nefarious types.”

2003 Tape Tale

Cleared out a tape from 2003. It had one ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer', one ‘Angel’ and two ‘Smallville’ eps on it.

The ‘Buffy’ ep was the season 7 ‘First Date’ in which Giles is an idiot, Ashanti guest stars as a demon, Buffy blathers on about Spike and his soul non-stop, Principle Wood has a wall of weapons and Xander goes on a date the Ashanti demon. After being stabbed with a knife, he is rescued and naturally Buffy coos over Spike while ignoring Xander and his gut wound. This was just low budget crap. Wood’s storyline became all about Spike, Willow and Anya do Buffy’s laundry for no clear reason, everyone is living in Buffy’s house for some reason, TPTB are obsessed with Andrew and The First is the worst villain since Warren.

Best Line:
“He was in the school basement holding a shovel acting kind of evasive.”

~
The ‘Angel’ ep was the season 4 ‘Salvage’ in which Angelus is loose, Lilah is dead, Wesley is ever useless, Connor annoys and Faith returns. Despite Angelus strutting around LA everyone sits on their ass. Wesley hallucinates and chops off Lilah’s head. The Beast lurks, gets a kiss from Cordelia and is killed off. Cordelia then tells Connor she is knocked up and somehow nobody notices she is evil, evil, evil, evil. This was dull.

Best Line:
A Beast we don’t know how to kill. We know it’s working for something much worse but we don’t know what it is.”

~
Then came the season 2 ‘Smallville’ ep ‘Suspect’ in which Lionel is shot, Jonathan is the suspect and Clark runs around yelling, being violent and accusing Lex. I can’t stand Clark.

Then was another season 2 ‘Smallville’ ep ‘Insurgence’ in which Lex pays thugs to break into Lionel’s office and things get out of control and Jonathan is self righteous. Oh shut up.

Movie Review: The Final (2010)

In the hermetically sealed society of high school, the popular kids are scowling, belligerent, imperialist bastards. Out of the wreckage they create is formed a messianic cult composed of unpopular bullied kids who via awestruck silence and apocalyptic rage plot vengeance. They plan a special party in which the popular kids regime suddenly collapses and they are not prepared for the consequences of that collapse. What happens is that everyone at the party has fallen out of the bullies world, there is only the world the bullied create.

Vile bullying popular kids are tied up and taught a lesson by those they have bullied. Parents are utterly disinterested and Kurtis the one nice popular kid cannot avert terrible things. Imagine ‘Mean Girls’ meets ‘SAW’ meets ‘Veronica Mars’. This is creepy and very good.

The bullied kids are unnervingly unemotional and Bradley the self serving bully is not a nice person at all. Mean girl Bridget has a limit to her cruelty and pays for it. The ending is just disturbing. What did they teach at that high school?

Still after the popular kids drink the spiked punch why do they all pass out at exactly the same time and wake up at exactly the same time? Also the Vietnam Vet subplot was a bit annoying and Kurtis could not act. Minor flaws aside this was unnerving viewing.

Best Lines:
“I wanted to be your friend.”

“I got us the hottest costumes for the party. They scream: We Love Sex But Not With You.”

“All the years of watching horror films, what could be better than to put it all to use.”

“Sorry I didn’t believe you.”
“It’s cool. You come banging on my door at 5 o clock in the morning with a gun in your hand, I might not believe you either.”

“There are more like us out there.”
