Heroes Season 4 Ep 15 Review

Sylar confronts Claire and demands that the orange one tell him where he went wrong in life. Hiro the moron man child hallucinates a trial of his life where his dead dad is the judge and Adam is the prosecutor. ‘Earth: Final Conflict’ did the exact same plot in the 90’s!

Samuel tries to convince Vanessa that stalking = love. Samuel is the worst villain. After dealing with Sylar, Claire and Gretchen decide to get together without actually doing any getting. Hiro shows that he is obsessed with Charlie and doesn’t care about any of the stacks of people that Sylar killed. Then he meets his dead mother and she cures him via some elegant banter. Hiro doesn’t die. Why won’t TPTB kill off Hiro, Sylar or Noah? Hiro wakes up. Samuel freaks out because Vanessa won’t stay. This show is an awful thing.

Flashforward Ep 11 Review, part deux

Revelation Zero, Part 2

Things almost seem bleak. Bryce and Nicole bond with Nicole’s nutty mother and her wall of pennies. Mark rescues Lloyd and Simon; of course Simon was in league with the baddie all along. Lloyd is smug and unapologetic. Mark seems to have his job back. The blackout investigation continues to be luckless and aimless. Simon is Suspect Zero. Simon continues to act ‘bad’, someone call Beowulf, a wannabe Grendal is on the loose.

Uncle Teddy (Ricky Jay) is a bad man. He and Simon are part of some plot. When Simon learns that Uncle Teddy had his father killed and kidnapped his sister, well evil has standards. So Simon kills Uncle Teddy in a display of large ham acting not seen since Al Pacino in ‘The Devil’s Advocate’. Simon is nuts. This was okay.

D Gibbons gave Simon his orders? Is Olivia the only doctor in LA? Who did Uncle Teddy report to? Why did they cause a blackout at all?

Trailer Fun

‘Charmed’ ep promo ‘Brain Drain’
A very good promo and a very good ep to boot.

Shakira’s ‘Gypsy’ music video
This was nice, it’s better than the noise Christina just released.

Watchmen’: Dr Manhattan and Comedian in Vietnam extended scene
I didn’t think it was possible but this longer version of the ‘Ride of the Valkyries’ scene makes Manhattan and Comedian look like even bigger psychos.

Supernatural Season 5 Ep 10 Review

Abandon All Hope...

Sam and Dean get the colt from your friendly neighbourhood crossroads demon. What is never explained is why Ruby helped Bobby fix the thing in the first place. So Sam, Dean, Jo, Ellen and Castiel head to the town of Carthage to kill Lucifer. Meanwhile Bobby hangs around in various scenes like a bad smell.

The town is full of Reapers, Castiel gets trapped with holy oil by Lucifer, Meg shows up to annoy and invisible hellhounds savage Jo. Lucifer unleashes the horseman Death. Jo, Ellen, Sam and Dean take refuge in a hardware store and plot an A-Team style fight back.

But it all turns out to be for nothing, worse than nothing. Sam cannot act. People die and Castiel uses Meg as a footbridge to escape the holy oil. This was good.

Best Lines:
Sam Winchester having trust issues with a demon. Well better late than never.”

“The Angel of Death. Big daddy Reaper. They keep this guy chained in a box 600 feet under. Last time they hauled him up, Noah was building a boat.”

Jericho Season 3 Issue #3 Review

A bus comes to Jericho bringing old and new faces. Skylar returns to Jericho after an unsuccessful attempt to find her parents in New York. Eric and Gail greet Uncle Emmett, who is Johnston’s never before mentioned identical brother and he’s here for a visit. Meanwhile Jake and Hawkins break into a maximum security prison with some ease.

Eric marries Mary, oh what a class act he is. No-one mentions April. Emmett makes a scene at the wedding reception; class just runs through the Green family doesn’t it? Gail is annoyed. Emmett blathers on about a storm coming. Emmett annoys me; wacky identical brothers of dead characters tend to do that. Meanwhile Jake and Hawkins find John Smith. This was good save for Emmett.

Fringe Season 2 Ep 16 Review

Walter visits Olivia to justify his kidnapping of Peter and make it all his wife’s fault. Cue flashbacks to 1983 that show Walter used power without guilt and loved without doubt. Walter built a window to spy on the other universe which had technology 30 years ahead of ours, they also had zeppelins. The military funded Walter so he would copy technology.

It seems Peter was sick in both universes. Both Walter and Walternate (as Walter dubs his other universe self) looked for a cure. Walter was copying Walternate’s work. Walter stopped by his wife Elizabeth and the angelic invalid Peter just in time for Peter to die and have a funeral. Nina attends sporting a Halloween fright wig.

Thanks to the Observer Walternate messes up his development of the cure. So Walter decides on the rational decision to travel to the alternate universe with the cure. Carla and Nina try to talk him out of it. Travel between universes is possible but Walter and Carla lied to their paymasters and said it was impossible.

Walter arrogantly ignores Nina and Carla. Walter spells out his low opinion of Bell too and stomps off to the other universe with just one vial of the cure. Nina loses her arm in the process. The vial breaks so Walter decides to take the other Peter. Walter meets the other Elizabeth and calmly plots her child’s abduction. Walter takes other Peter as other Elizabeth says: “Bring him back to me.”

Walter meets the observer. Elizabeth sees other Peter and cries. So Walter blames her for keeping Peter. This was excellent. Walter’s justification for his actions was grotesque; it’s all about his pain. What about the pain he caused the other Elizabeth and Walternate? Where is Walternate?

The 1980’s style opening credits were brilliant. In the other universe, ‘Back to the Future’ came out two years early in 1983 and starred Eric Stoltz.

Why hasn’t that window been mentioned before? Peter had a funeral. So how do they explain him being alive and the death certificate? Bell didn’t bother to show up for Peter’s funeral. Why didn’t Walternate and the other universe know they were being watched? Why is Peter significant? Is Walter’s assistant Dr Carla Warren, the lab assistant who later died? Are other Elizabeth and Walternate still waiting for their son to come home? Other Elizabeth saw and spoke to Walter, did Walternate guess who took his son?

Best Lines:
“No limitations, no boundaries. There is no reason for them.”

“He knew he was loved. Didn’t he?”

“Shattering the wall between universes would rupture the fundamental constants of nature.”

“Walter there has to be a line somewhere. There has to be a line we can’t cross.”

“Some things are not ours to tamper with.”

“There is only room for one god in this lab and it’s not yours.”

“I could never take Peter back.”

“I couldn’t lose him again.”
