Book Review: The Scream Team

Nightmare Hall: The Scream Team by Diane Hoh

In the early 1990's, the point horror book series was huge. Lots of 'scary'
books about murderous American kids with good hair who kept killing each
other in titles like: 'The Cemetery', 'The Cheerleader', 'The Perfume', 'The
Invitation'
and 'The Snowman'. They were far better than today's conspicuous
consumption 'Gossip Girl' oeuvre and its various knock offs.

Anyway I found this book (from 1995) at a second hand store and bought it
for the nostalgia factor. It takes place at Salem U, where Delle is trying
out for the cheerleading team. There are a lot of vacancies to fill seeing
as the previous cheer team all died in a fiery horrible accident. Now it
seems someone is stalking the current cheer wannabes. Someone who may be
planning to kill them all. What can Delle do to avoid a bad end? This is an okay read for those with nostalgia for 90's YA fiction.

Heroes 3x06 Review

Dying of the Light

Matt and his turtle are back in the USA and he meets Daphne. The turtle
apparently needs no quarantine or food or water. Arthur kills Adam and then
in a truly disgusting moment, yanks out his own incubation tube. People run
in and out of Level 5 like it is a frozen yogurt shop, where are the guards?
Hiro gets smacked with a shovel, twice. He still shows no sign of being the
badass we saw in 'Five Years Gone'. Claire and her two mommies have another
boring plot. Nathan and Tracy are captured by Suresh. Meanwhile after an
unnecessary Peter and Sylar fight (the show runs over budget for a reason),
Peter meets his daddy and Arthur promptly steals all of Peter's powers. Hee,
guess Peter inherited his powers from his daddy. Only his daddy isn't a wet
rag whiner with a wonky mouth who never does anything.

This was an okay ep. But the show's notorious problems are over-whelming the
storyline. They need to do more than fire two writers to fix this show's
issues.

Why is it always giant conspiracies? Why don't the 'heroes' ever help or
save anybody? What happened to Monica? She tried to help people. Where is Lyle during all this? Why does Ando put up with Hiro? What is with Daphne's horrible wig?

Prison Break 4x09 Review

Greatness Achieved

Linc mentions LJ at last and doesn't seem to care that he's on his own in
Panama. Sofia doesn't even rate a mention. Gretchen is described by the
General as "an emotional disconnect with traces of sociopathic tendencies"
before he makes out with her. The General is the father of Gretchen's
daughter. Eeeeeewww. Sucre and Michael bond during some call-backs to season
1. Mahone goes into full on season 2 psycho mode and kills Wyatt,
eventually. Don Self and Sara take a walk. Bellick dies after many anvils of
foreshadowing. T-Bag is interviewed by a cop who somehow fails to recognise
him. Roland is not missed by his former colleagues. This was an okay place
holder of an ep.

The Other Boleyn Girl dvd unfairness

So I've bought my 'The Other Boleyn Girl' dvd and there is not one extra on it, not even the trailer. Yet the Region 1 dvd apparently has a commentry, deleted scenes, profiles and feaurettes.  To quote 'Heathers': "It's just so unfair!"
