Movie Reviews: The Running Man + Batman (1966)

The Running Man (1963)

This is based on a novel and filmed in Ireland. Laurence Harvey and Lee Remick star in this boring dull tale of insurance fraud. There is a fake death, a real death and a rubbish car chase as well as a wildly implausible glider 'crash'.

Best Lines:

“Devotion and comfort of a christian marraige.”

“Living on pies and chips.”

Batman (1966)

Batman is allowed free reign in Gotham. There are clearly obvious stuntmen. Catwoman goes undercover and romances Bruce Wayne in boring fashion. The Joker, Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin plague the good guys with an evil if vague plan. The Penguin managed to buy a pre-atomic submarine with just a po box.

Why is there a monument to Benedict Arnold in Gotham? Murder is planned via exploding octopus. Adam West does some...bizarre acting choices. This was okay.

Best Line:

“Hand me down the shark repellent bat spray!”

“We're perfectly ordinary Americans!”

“Support your police!”

“Your tone sounds rather grim.”

“Bash him brutally.”

“Death dealing pirates.”

“Everyone of them has a mother.”

“People in weird outfits.”

“Low neighbourhood.”

“Gosh drink is sure a filthy thing.”
