Book Review: Gwendy's Magic Feather

Gwendy's Magic Feather by Richard Chizmar

A sequel to 'Gwendy's Button Box' only Stephen King does not co-author it this time. Congresswoman Gwendy returns to her hometown of Castle Rock for Christmas 1999. Sheriff Norris Ridgewick is investigating the case of 2 missing girls. Inbetween pages of Americana, Gwendy gets drawn into the case in this knowingly abstract gentle cosy tale. This was good.

Best Lines:

“Tradition-steeped.”

“Used to say it whenever he wanted to sound clever.”

“Standard autumn uniform of an adult New England make – camouflage.”

“One of the town's most infamous – and unsavoury – citizens.”

“Spoke those words to her, and she believes them to be true.”
