Movie Review: A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Another remake that nobody asked for. Jackie Earle Haley of 'Watchmen' is Freddy Krueger. Rooney Mara is Nancy and dreams have grim real world consequences. This does not elecit an emotional response. Katie Cassidy of 'Arrow' and 'Harper's Island' is Kris, Thomas Dekker of 'Heroes' and 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles', Connie Britton and Clancy Brown co star.

Nancy and Kris (Cassidy) hang out with the goob from 'Continnum'. This insists on its own competence. Mara hates this movie, understandably. This is absolutely obvious and parents were morally convined of their right to do as they want. Why there a continuation of this insistence on remaking things? Parents are unperturbed by death. How did Freddy get his powers?

Freddy is coated in bad make up. There is no genuine worry. The creepy skipping song girls finally show up. There is ignorance and bad faith and stupidity. There is no sharp wit and there is idiotic ignorance and dishonest denial. Poor decisions are not reveresed. Nancy and Kris are meant to be high school students?!? Seriously?!? Someone accuses 5 year olds of sabotaging Freddy's reputation.

This is really quite unpleasant and dreams become dangerous and this is not properly terrifying. Freddy is not girsly or meancing or violent or aggressive or unpredictable or erratic. This was horrible and filthy. People shrug off a violent public breakdown.

This is a lazy narrative. A poor dog dies and nobody notices. The skipping girls skip. Did Kris sleep with someone else (Dekker) after her boyfriend died? Kris dies and Dekker is sprayed with blood after some bad wire-fu. Dekker runs looking guilty. He runs to Nancy. How did he get into her room? This was not credible. Dekker does not help his own case.

There is an old phone. This was unsuccessful nonsense. Dekker dies. People look on in despair. TPTB suggest Freddy is innocent, he isn't. The parents are reprehensible. This was vile. Nancy sits in the path with her legs spread wide – women don't sit in the bath like that. This is a near shot for shot remake. There is no love and light.

Freddy is repugnant and harasses people. There is a preschool secret. This was wholly inadequate. Freddy wears a silly outfit. Kris ends up in body bag. There were allegations and did I detect references to the McMartin case? The 'Continuum' git ends up in a nasty swimming pool in tiny swim trunks. WHY? There was vigilante justice and an underlit dumb ending. TPTB do all their nonsence.

Best Lines:

“I can sleep, I just don't want to.”

“You're not real.”

“I am now.”

“Working your underwaters.”

“Memories don't kill you.”

“Secret cave.”

“We got 6 more minutes to play.”

“Dream with my eyes open.”

“Everything that's been happening with your friends.”

“I didn't want you to remember!”

“If I dream I'm dead.”
