Book Review: The Starship Trap

Star Trek The Original Series #59: The Starship Trap by Mel Gilden

This was originally published in 1993. While on R&R, the Enterprise crew are summoned to transport a tiresome politician and his lackey from point A to point B. The politician has an agenda and his lackey doesn’t seem to have a personality beyond being his yes man.

Then the crew become embroiled in the mystery of missing starships and run into an Insane Mad Genius who wants to bring peace to the galaxy by force if necessary. Soon the Enterprise is lost in another universe and the isolation and changed reality is causing people’s self awareness to fracture.

By working together the crew save the day and all is well. This is a nice little novel with good character shadings and some nice nods to classic literature.
