Book Review: The Harrowing

The Harrowing by Alexandra Sokoloff

Robin is a depressed overlooked student at Baird College. When the rest of the students head home for Thanksgiving, Robin stays behind in her residence hall. She wants to brood and think about ending it all. Then she learns four other students have also stayed behind.

They are Lisa, Cain, Patrick and Martin and over the long weekend Robin and they bond. With the help of alcohol, drugs and an ouija board, an unlikely friendship is formed. But as they continue to use the board it becomes clear that something is using them for its own ends.

This is an enjoyably creepy tale of growing menace and the power of myth and friendship.
