The Thing (1982)
Kurt Russell stars in this John Carpenter film. Inevitable defeat is obvious from the start as bad things go down in the ice. There is a space ship and an unfriendly alien and 80s hair. I didn’t like this.

Oscar bait starring Tom Hanks and Mark Rylance. There is cold war paranoia and Francis Gary Powers and yet it is still boring.
