I’ve missed some issues of this. People with low social positions are menaced in the old west. Particularly cruel people have a ruinous appetite for stirring up trouble. People are not exquisitely evil and this was done extremely seriously. This tries for solemn and devastating. There are lifelong consequences to choices. There are not even occasional interludes of interest.
