Movie Reviews: Mean Girls + 3 others

Mean Girls (2004)
Rachel McAdams, Lindsay Lohan, Tina Fey, Lacey Chabert, Neil Flynn, Amanda Sefried, Diego Klattenhoff and Lizzy Caplan star in this tale of mean girls and girls who have a weakness for cretinous men and making incautious choices. It starts out well but ‘Superstar’ starring Molly Shannon was almost better than this over-hyped film. This is a tale of high school low-level moral degradation, an art freak having long-brewed disapproval, teen girl sexual paranoia and moments of clarity.

People are convinced they are intellectually and morally right. This has no core of truth and it is not poignant or nuanced. The less flattering parts of teen girls personalities are shown off. There are no compelling reasons to watch this. Nobody has realistic responses and this is laden with scorn.

There is no emotional pivot and nothing the teens do is a recipe for making friends. There is always an enemy and there are opposing narratives and people need constant affirmation and acclimation, just don’t except a reciprocal arrangement. Teens are unable emotionally to deliver any sort of sympathy. There are profound levels of denial and indefensible acts. People have an honest belief in their dysfunctional mediocrity. These teens sour presence is extremely mediocre.

This is a tale of covert behaviours, no meaningful apologies or social obligation. This was woefully inept and gloriously excessive. Unsupportive friends have no breadth or depth. There are short skirts, excessive make up and big hair. There is no emotional fallout. Everyone is trash and nobody has a commitment to being respectable.

This was before Lohan’s downfall and shows she was pretty and had charisma, now Emma Stone has the career Lohan threw away.
