Rip Torn, Kris Kristofferson, Treat Williams, Kurtwood Smith, Miguel Ferrer, Jean Smart, Guy Boyd and Tess Harper star in this forgotten film in which there is no punishment of evil or daunting complexity or huge dramatic scope. This was not bold or dynamic as two Texas border guards (Kristofferson and Williams) find a jeep buried for 20 years in the desert.
It contains a skeleton, a scoped rifle and $800,000 in cash. Williams shows off his ass. The plot makes no sense as it is boring and full of swearing and overacting. There is a risk of harm in this parlous film. There is a twist which makes this into a conspiracy film. The ending is uncertain and this was full of subtext between Kristofferson and Williams.
There are unanticipated consequences to their find. This stokes cynicism and has no good morals. The logic leaps and ending defy rational explanation. Kristofferson gets his shirt off and there are grim revelations that leave him despondent. Don’t bother.
“Sell them death.”
“You’re a mad dog killer son; you knifed your own partner for that box of money.”
“Shot on sight.”
“Be the one that got away.”
The Crazies (1973)
J.T. Walsh, M.C. Gainey and Rex Linn star in this dumb tale of nefarious hillbillies. A man and his useless idiot load of a wife have their mood dramatically soured by the negative influence of rednecks who have no moral codes. There is bad acting and histrionics.
What About Bob? (1991)
Top Secret! (1984)
This Val Kilmer movie is horrible.
