Cleared out a 2002 tape. It began with an ‘Angel’ season 3 ep ‘Benediction’ in which Connor and Holtz are awful. Part demon Cordelia and her bleach burned hair is uncritically dumb. Wesley taunts happiness. Justine acts out. This was not magnificent.

Then there was a ‘Charmed’ ep ‘Witch Way Now?’ in which Paige wears a dress that looks like a giant doily. Paige and Phoebe are awful. The Angel of Destiny shows up. The sisters are spied on by Bruce Campbell. The sisters aren’t genuinely motivated. An ugly CGI snake menaces Cole. This does not advance human potential. The sisters do not notice obvious lies being promulgated. Cole saves Phoebe’s life to no thanks. This was not eye-catching.

Then there was a ‘Queen of Swords’ ep ‘Counterfeit Queen’ in which a fake Queen (Elizabeth Gracen) lurks. People mug frantically for the camera. Negative inferences are made. This has a lack of complication and subtext. It ends with petty triumphs.

Finally there was an ‘Andromeda’ ep ‘Ouroboros’ in which Rev Bem had to leave the show due to the actor becoming violently allergic to his alien makeup. Dylan is tiresomely macho. Kevin Sorbo had the show rebooted and retooled and all the good writers kicked off for making things too complicated. The show needed to focus on the actresses’ wigs and makeup and Dylan. The tracking was way off. Dylan is genuinely irritating. Temporal shockwaves hit. This ep has inherent wrongness as Trance switches places with her gold future self for no clear reason. Dylan is unbearably smug. This deeply uneven and entirely worthless.

Best Line:
“Things are bad.”
